All study visas should be issued by a Russian Consulate only according to an invitation from Saint Petersburg State University. When applying for your visa you should state "study" as the purpose of the visit. It takes approximately five weeks to arrange an invitation and Ministry of Foreign Affairs charges for this service 32 USD. Every student should pay these expenses at the University cashier's office upon arrival. We kindly ask students to indicate the exact dates of arrival and departure to and from Russia. Making a new invitation with new dates will require extra fees and time.

The Center can send the invitation image by fax or the original invitation by courier express mail service (for extra fee). With the invitation a student should apply for the study visa at the Russian Consulate. This study visa will be for the same dates as the invitation. The study visa can be extended for the period of your study contract upon arrival.

The Center of Russian Language and Culture can arrange to pick up students at an airport or a railway station and then to bring them to the place of their accommodation. For this we ask students to confirm the arrival details (exact date, time, flight/train number) by e-mail 6 days before the arrival. If the flight/train is delayed our driver will wait for a student for 2 hours more. The Center cannot be held responsible for losses due to flight or train delay.

The University hotel is located at address: Kapitanskaya str., house 3 (room 8 - University Hotel Administration). If you have failed to find our driver at the airport/railway station (usually he holds a sign with the name of a student printed on it) please give a call to the Hotel staff (+812-352-42-87 or +812-352-24-28) before taking a taxi.

Medical treatment for foreign citizens in Russia is for a fee only. Generally our students arrive in Russia with their own health insurance policies. However, the Russian system has not yet integrated completely into international insurance system. Therefore if a student arrives with his/her own health insurance policy from his/her country only a few local medical facilities will be able to accept the policy in the event you fall ill and they will require additional payment. The university can provide you with a policy which guarantees medical care in the city's medical facilities. For extra information on University medical insurance apply to coordinator's office in room 114 on arrival.
